Geboren wurde ich 1972 in Hannover wo ich jetzt auch wieder lebe und, als Lohnbuchhalterin arbeite. Ich habe erst ziemlich spät begonnen mich für die Fotografie zu interessieren. Irgendwann Ende der neunziger Jahre stellte ich fest, dass meine Urlaubsfotos aus Irland irgendwie nicht das wiedergaben was ich im Urlaub gesehen und empfunden hatte.Daraufhin kaufte ich mir 1998 meine erste Spiegelreflexkamera, eine Canon EOS 500.Es folgte eine 620 für Infrarotfotografie und die entsprechenden Objektive sowie unzählige Fotozeitschriften und Bildbände. Derzeit arbeite ich hauptsächlich mit einer 40D und einer für Infrarotfotografie umgebauten Rebel (350).

Seit 2006 beteilige ich mich auch recht erfolgreich an internationalen Wettbewerben.Da ich voll berufstätig bin fotografiere ich leider hauptsächlich immer noch im Urlaubund mein Hauptziel ist es nach wie vor die wunderschönen Eindrücke die ich dort sammleanderen Menschen nahe zubringen. Nicht immer die absolute Realität, sondern so, wie ich diese unvergleichlichen Landschaften gesehen und empfunden habe. Meine große Leidenschaft gilt Schottland und Irland.

Denn obwohl ich auch schon in Neuseeland und den USA war (noch zu Dia-Zeiten und deshalb nicht auf dieser Website) und diese Länder absolute Superlative zu bieten haben was Naturschönheiten angeht bleibt mein Herz doch in Europa.                                                                                 Andrea Harmssen

I was born 1972 in Hannover where I’m living still. I’ve started quite late with photography.Sometime at the end of the nineties I’ve realised that the pictures I’ve snapped during holidays didn’t resemble the beautiful landscapes I’ve seen and experienced at all. So in 1998 I’ve bought my first SLR, a Canon EOS 500. Thanks to Simon Marsden a 620 for infrared. photography followed soon as well as some lenses and a lot of magazines and illustrated books. Currently I’m working with a 40 D and a converted rebel for infrared.     Since 2006 I participate quite succesful in international competitions.

I’m working as a fulltime payroll accountant so unfortunately my time for photography is limited and I still enjoy it mostly on holidays. My main goal is to capture the marvelous impressions I collect there and show them to other people in order to try and get them to appreciate natures beauty as much as I do. It’s not always the complete reality but how I’ve seen and perceived these unique landscapes. My greatest passion belongs to Scotland and Ireland. I’ve travelled to New Zealand and the US as well (captured on slides then and therefore not on this website) and really appreciate the stunning natural beauty each of them has to offer and I would love to explore a lot more of the gorgeous landscapes there.
